For those of you who may have heard rumors, or seen the activity at 227 W. Oak A Creative Art Studio & Gallery, we are implementing a brand new Co-op format for the Gallery and it opens Saturday February 29. We will be open 10a-10p and the party cranks up at 7 and winds down about 9. We are working day-and-night clearing out the gallery and adding new artists to the only free-standing, independent art gallery in Downtown Denton, Texas.

New artists are, in no particular order: UJ Design Studios, VAST, Crystal Nelson, Robin Huttash, Chienhui Bryant, Kathy Bennett Chan, Stacie Forrest, Ann Howington, Leslie Kregel and Shannon Drawe. The variety of work is amazing, with many artists involved in multiple disciplines – many of those styles and methods not related except that they come from the same artist.

Classes resume in March, and many new classes will be offered to the entire age spectrum – from children to adults wanting to learn a new art or craft. The Gallery will also host visiting artists, lectures and of course continue to be highly active with Downtown Denton events, Main Street events and First Friday Denton.

The Co-op formula for the Gallery is off to a running start, with only one formal wall space remaining, but we are interested in talking to artists who may be looking for a smaller commitment that may be available. Our jury for new members has decades of art-making and teaching experience, and is always looking to diversify the work offered at the gallery while maintaining high standards for creativity and quality.

FEEL FREE to contact me if you want more information about the Gallery, and what the new Co-op can do for you!
